P1 Second Draft

For the second draft of project one, my writing process was very similar to my writing process for the first draft. I was in my room and sitting at my desk with the lights dim. The only light in my room came from some lights that I have up on my wall. The minimal light helps to feel relaxed. The only thing that was different was how loud my music was. Somehow, my roommate does understand that I don’t really want to have a conversation with him while I am doing my homework. He also doesn’t have headphones so there are always videos, movies, or music coming out of his phone. Unfortunately for me, when I sat down to start working on this second draft, he was in the room watching a movie. Nevertheless, I put in my earbuds and got to work. This second draft took me about an hour. For the second draft, I had a pretty good idea of what I was doing thanks to my classmates. It turns out that my first draft wasn’t as bad as I thought so I didn’t have to do it all over. I just had to make some adjustments here and there. Unlike my first draft, my stress level was very low. Because of the workshop a couple classes ago, I had a vision in my head of what was a great draft, and what I had to do to my draft to get it there. If we did not have to opportunity to work with other students and see what they had do for their first drafts, then I feel like I would have been completely lost in this revision process. As much as I hate writing workshops I’m glad that we did it. Seeing how my other classmates interpreted the directions and designed their mind maps gave me a good representation of what I have to do to do well on this first project.

  1. Workshop definitely lowered my stress level too. I think it was helpful and really reassuring to see that everyone was just as unsure of their own plan as I was. Good luck with your roommate haha.
